East Cork Early Music is proud to present an afternoon of music by the charming rococo composer Luigi Boccherini. An off-shoot of the newly formed Cork Baroque Orchestra, Cork Baroque Players is Leonie Curtin and Marja Gaynor (violin), Cian Ó Dúill (viola) and Aoife Nic Athlaoich & Eimear Reidy (cello) performing on period instruments.

The programme will feature Boccherini’s famous string quintet ‘La musica notturna delle strade di Madrid’, a beautiful and lively piece (made famous by its having featured in the film Master and Commander) that conjures up scenes from the streets of 18th century Madrid. In addition, the Cork Baroque Players will be joined by internationally acclaimed soprano Deirdre Moynihan for Boccherini’s stunning version of the Stabat Mater.
