We’re excited to announce that More Hispano will be joined by a Guest Star: singer Camilla Griehsel. If you’d like to know more about Camilla, you can read her biography here:
Camilla Griehsel is originally from Sweden and currently lives in Schull, West Cork. She began her singing career in Stockholm, where she performed in jazz clubs while studying at the city’s music academy. After numerous residences and international tours she found herself in London as lead singer of the pop group One 2 Many. She performed all over England in a variety of soprano roles, including (Pamina, Countess Almaviva ,Donna Elvira with Opera box and Almaviva opera). She also originated the leading role of Leah in The Dybbuk, the first ever opera in Yiddish, which was performed in Tel Aviv by Opera Nodedet. Recently Camilla starred in Cork Opera House’s production of ‘Maria de Buenos Aires’ by Astor Piazzola performed during Cork Midsummer Festival 2013.
As a recording artist her work has ranged very widely, from popular music through to projects like Rum and Chocolaté, a collaboration recorded in Lima, Peru, with percussionist Julio ‘Chocolaté’ Algendones and guitarist Andres Prado, combining Swedish folk songs with Peruvian rhythms and folksongs and their own original material. Camilla and Maurice Seezer recently released 2012 (Viva la vida), a collection of songs from the South Americas they are currently touring.
