Compère: Evelyn Grant
Arias & instrumentals by Handel, Purcell, Pachelbel, Muffat etc.
East Cork Early Music is delighted to present an evening of well-loved classics from the rich repertoire of Baroque music. From the sparkle of Pachelbel’s “Canon” performed on period instruments to Handel’s moving “Lascia ch’io pianga” and the heartbreak of Purcell’s “Dido’s lament”, this will be a concert to remember for lovers of music.
Cork’s perennial favourite Evelyn Grant, will be compère for the evening, presenting the star of the show, exquisite soprano Kim Sheehan. Described as “excellent” by the New York Times and “radiant with musical intelligence” by the Irish Times, Kim charmed the Cork audience as Malwina in the recent, critically acclaimed opera “Der Vampyr” at The Everyman.
Kim will be joined by some of the best Baroque specialists in the country, including Malcolm Proud on the harpsichord, Aoife Nic Athlaoich on Baroque cello, Marja Gaynor on Baroque violin and Nina Treadwell on theorbo.
Tickets cost €25 and are available on the door and in advance from Pro Musica, Oliver Plunkett Street. All proceeds go towards funding East Cork Early Music Festival 2014.
